A Place to Call Home – Fundraising Campaign

With less than 1% vacancy rate, the North Okanagan is experiencing a critical shortage of affordable rental housing. Employers are challenged to attract and retain workers. Current one-bedroom units are listed for over $2000 per month causing many young families to decide between rent and groceries or move out of our province.

The People

The Community Foundation of the North Okanagan 2023 Vital Signs Report states that “the median total household income is $77,500”. Even with this income, housing is a challenge for many. It could affect healthcare workers, childcare staff, frontline and personal service personnel, etc.

Our Project

OKVHS has purchased two acres at 6545 Okanagan Landing Road with the help of generous donations which have provided us with clear title to this property.  Together with provincial and/or federal government funds, this will eliminate the burden of the land cost and make the rents affordable.

With your help we are actively fundraising for items not covered by provincial and federal government funds.

Thanks to PDF funding received from BC Housing – OKVHS and the development team have submitted the Development Permit to build a multi-family complex of 101 units, consisting of studio, 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units.  With the help of provincial and/or federal funds, earth works is anticipated to being in the fall of 2025, providing over two hundred residents with A PLACE TO CALL HOME in early 2028.
